KING OF THE BAYS

In a close finish Matt Scott got out of the water just ahead of Davey Boles. With Sebastien Priscott coming home 3rd.Amazing how they swam 2.8km in sloppy conditions and were literally arm and arm heading to the beach, with only 3 seconds between them at the finish. Stefannie Gillespie was the first female home followed by Hannah Knighton and Rachel Hare.

Auckland turned on a windy rainy day but the event team never missed a beat with everything running like a Swiss clock, apart from my Eftpos machine which got water in it and stopped on me late in the day so I still managed to pay for the diesel home!! Although all the vendors got rained on we managed to have a fun time with Jetstar giving away loads of freebies, the Coffee guy selling loads of coffee. Banana Boat didn’t spray too many people but still had fun. DB gave away heaps of Citrus NO alcohol beer (nice if I say so myself). More FM bashed out good music and HUUB managed to sell a few of the best wetsuits on the beach - whoohoo

Always a real buzz to see the kids swimming the 200m event. For many it was their first ocean swim and although it was only 200m to many it was a real challenge especially in the conditions – congrats to all of them I say!!

That’s the end of the season for this series. HUUB and Teamline will be back next year. We really enjoyed the events and a big thank you to all the competitors for their support.

Packed the van yesterday so I am off to NAGS this morning for the week – see you there.
